Date: 26th Jan 2014;
Time: 6:20 to 20:30
Place: Gambhirgar (Saiwan-Dahanu),
Fort Height- 2250 Ft.; Region-Palghar.
Rout: Mulund>Thane-Kopari>Kasar-wadavali>Virar-Phata>to
Dahanu(Charoti Naka)> Saiwan>Kasegaon(Asolpada)> Gambirgad> Same on
return via Mahalaxmi Temple(Charoti Naka).
Republic Day 26th Jan, we planned up to scale the mount
Gambhirgad. The rare and pigmy fort of Gambhirgad stands tall on the border of
the state Maharashtra and Union territory of Dadra – Nagar Haveli(Silvassa). We
started Journey at 7:00 as usually we are late, by our, Rampyari- a 1970’s
Jeep, carrying 7 mates.
We was on our mood, almost forgotten to Prakash, who waiting for us at
Kasar-wadavali junction, we picked up him too. Almost 8:00;
We reached 9:15 @ virar Juction where, Uday,his frd, Gorphadencha abhi
& 2 bikes was waiting for us, we had breakfast with Idali and Tea(My
contribution ofcource).and I jumped up on bike Suzuki R15 R to enjoy back ride.
We started there, and next stop to charoti naka, then via saiwan to
aslonpada, w parked and started climbing. Almost 11 o’clock.
We are now at borderline, as all got msg from network provider , “Welcome
to the state of Gujrat”-Roaming started. Now it was hot climate somewhat which
did not stopped till we returned back in evening. Whole of this region which we
had been through while travelling seemed full of TADI tree’s, He asked few
youngsters whom we met on the road that if we were on right track we reached the base. The base is not an actual
village, aslonpada an exact location from where the trek starts.
In between road a small Way is there .This spot is a bit ahead from Rampur
– Aslonpada village. Also there is a trek route from the base village which
merges up the route we had taken.
The route first climbs up steadily and then we can see a steep ridge
connecting to a plateau ahead. There are two huts at very start of this route,
one is within 5 mins, another is after 10-15 mins and both are on left side. Some
cattle having there food there.
These huts can be used to verify the route. Then we climbed up the ridge
which is steep and reached the plateau. From here we could see many platues. If
you come from Rampur – Aslonpada village, the route will merge up here on the
plateau.
Now we have to turn left towards Gambhirgad and there are two paths now.
One climbs up a hillock while other goes from left side of hillock which looks
very easy. But we took the one which climbed up hillock steeply to save time, not
so hard, but the soiled road make hagy to put next step,slippery Yes,
that was not the right route but we anyway were unaware of it till now. We
reached a caves where we had food . wasted a lot of time, and we had to make
our own way towords gambirgad,which are outskirt of platue, behind the steeps
We then headed ahead on the plateau and got the first glimpse of Gambhirgad ,
On outskirt(Before Gambhirgad)We were discussing about what to do the flag hosting
and suddenly we saw the group of children. Now the situation was very different
.It took us around 1.30 hour for flag hosting and facilating with gift to the around
children.
owesome experience on Top we had Anthem & some beautiful sond, and last but not least a SHIVGARJANA,(Anthem of Shivajee Maharaj). (Video clip on Youtube,named Chetannongambirgad)

Then we started descending by different rout and in no time we were down on
the plateau and found that our colleague was so ahead. Now it was 5.30 pm and
we had to still travel a lot more to reach home. We were all sitting in
village, had a great time with locals. There were kids and adults.
Carrying DSLR cam, had great time capturing moment, during return.
We headed towards Charoti naka junction on NH8. From Charoti. then we
headed to Mahalaxmi temple, just nearby.
We all got relaxed inside the temple. now we dispersed according to our
destinations. We reached Thane (Kopari)at 9 pm, trek was owesome and best it
was equally enjoyed. There is nothing much to explore on the fort as such.
